Dear Friend,
I regret that I must inform you that I will not be the Course Director for the 2010 Nevada Psychiatric Association’s Psychopharmacology Update.
I have very much appreciated your support and attendance at our Conferences during the past 14 years. It was an honor and a pleasure for my staff and I to serve you each February. We always strived to have the best faculty deliver in an unbiased manner the latest information about the psychotropic medications we use to help our patients.
The NPA Executive Committee voted to have a for-profit firm in Washington State run the Conference in 2010. In the last few years APA gave a grant to NPA to pay the $36,000/year salary of a lobbyist to the Nevada Legislature. APA will not provide these funds in 2010, but the Executive Committee wanted to continue to pay the Lobbyist until the Legislature convenes again in January, 2011. I could not guarantee the Executive Committee a profit of $36,000/year. I wanted to continue to provide you with a high quality CME Conference at the lowest possible tuition, despite fewer dollars from the pharmaceutical companies.
I will certainly let you know if I am able to bring you a similar Conference in the future, for another organization.
Until we meet again, I remain,
Robert Lynn Horne, MD
